Which wall is the TV going on?

Irvine homes mix four main wall types, and each changes the anchoring, the time and the price. Ranges are typical Irvine labor for one TV, from the estimator on this page.

What a sound TV install looks like

    • A mount rated above the TV

A listed bracket rated well above the TV's weight, lagged into studs or held by rated toggles — never plastic anchors.

    • Wires that disappear

In-wall rated power and HDMI kits behind drywall, or a slim paintable raceway on brick, stone and stucco. A standard extension cord never goes inside a wall.

    • Height set from the seat

The screen center is marked from where people sit, so the picture is comfortable to watch, not just centered on the wall.

    • Fireplaces checked first

Mantel clearance and heat are measured before drilling; masonry gets sleeve anchors and a tilting or pull-down mount when the wall is tall.

    • One price, line by line

TV size, wall, mount and extras itemized before work starts; the number changes only if the scope changes.

    • Who does the work

TV installs booked through this site will be done by an independent, identified local installer whose legal name, license status and insurance type are published here before bookings open.

Diagram: front cutaway of a wall showing wood studs at equal spacing with a TV wall plate lag-bolted into the centre of two of them, and an enlarged section of one bolt passing through the plate and drywall into the stud
How lag bolts hold the plate in wood studs. A TV wall plate is only as strong as what its bolts bite into: lag bolts go through the plate and the drywall into the centre of the wood studs.

    What the numbers show

    1. Stud centre line Each bolt goes on the centre line of a stud, found with a stud finder and confirmed with a small test hole, so the threads have wood on both sides.
    2. Stud spacing Wood studs usually sit 16 inches apart centre to centre, sometimes 24; the wall plate's slots let the bolts land on two of them.
    3. Lag bolt with washer A washer spreads the clamping force on the plate as the bolt is tightened; the bolt is snug, not over-torqued.
    4. Wall plate across two studs Spanning two studs shares the TV's weight and keeps the plate from twisting.
    5. Threads in the stud The threads grip solid wood; the drywall only sits between the plate and the stud and carries no load.
    6. Depth into the wood A pilot hole slightly smaller than the bolt lets it thread in without splitting the stud, deep enough for the mount maker's rating.

    TV mounting questions, answered

How much does TV mounting cost?

A standard mount on drywall over wood studs runs about $119–$179 for a 32–65 inch TV in Irvine in 2026, about $169–$229 for 66–85 inches and $229–$329 for 86 inches and up. Steel studs add $25–$45, tile or stone feature walls $60–$120, a fireplace install $90–$140 and in-wall wire concealment $99–$179. The ranges on this site are market estimates, not quotes.

Can a TV be mounted in an apartment or rented condo?

Often, if the lease allows wall penetrations; many leases do with conditions such as patching at move-out. A low-profile mount into studs leaves four to six small holes, which patch and paint easily. Renters check the lease before booking.

My condo has steel studs. Can it still hold a TV?

Yes. Steel studs take rated toggle anchors through the stud flange, or a hidden wood backer plate fastened across two studs for large TVs and full-motion arms. Lag bolts made for wood studs do not hold in steel.

Can a TV go above a linear gas fireplace in a new home?

Usually. Most new linear fireplaces have a drywalled chase above them with framing that takes a standard mount, and many builders provide a recessed media box and conduit there. The heat at the mounting height is checked with the fireplace running, since the TV maker's temperature rating sets the limit.

    How are the wires hidden?

On an interior wall an in-wall rated power relocation kit and in-wall rated HDMI run between a plate behind the TV and one near the outlet. Many newer Irvine homes have builder conduit from the TV location to a media niche, which makes the run simpler. On tile, stucco or shared walls a slim paintable raceway is the usual alternative.

Which villages does this site cover?

Homes, condos, townhomes and apartments across Irvine's villages — Woodbridge, Northwood, Turtle Rock, University Park, Westpark, Quail Hill, Portola Springs, Orchard Hills and the Great Park neighborhoods among them. The availability check shows whether bookings are open for a ZIP.

    Who does the installation?

Installers featured on this site are independent businesses. The installer's legal name, license status where required and insurance type are published on this site before bookings open. Adding an outlet or a circuit is separate electrical work for an electrician, priced separately from the mount.
